The hottie Malang students are lining up on the MERTASARI BEACH groyne to have photo taken with Lady Penelope this morning — the word must be out. Certainly my old buddy Mojokerto, artist with the mostest Ari Bayuaji, is about to make Mertasari famous with a photo exhibition in Berlin at the Natural History Museum later this year, then London next year at the venue of the same name!! What a coup for a small Javanese town lad with perfect skin tone. I saw Ari at Amir and Dinar Sidharta's post-wedding bash at Pia Alisjahbana's heavy zen beachside palazzo at Batu Belig yesterday, with the A-listers: Ghea Sukasah, in a wayang mu-mu; Odek of Ubud, looking edible; Ashmeen Khan, looking like the sheriff of Notting Hill Gate; both Kadek Krishna AND his mum!!! (who's at home guarding the bean sprouts??); Malia, now working for Art Basel; and supermodel Bobie Hutomo, posing on a Miami dentist reception-lounge set, with a teenager (under a cushion) who had passed out, obviously from an excess of carrot cake. Speaking of which, I got busted by Odek's beady-eyed manager trying to steal the only napkin on the premises, loaded with said heavily frosted cake! Malu ah.
Ari's obscure images of the Mertasari scrub (where I am regularly dragged by randy fishermen IN MY DREAMS) will become famous, and mine will be relegated to the musings of the old tart bucket at Ganesha Bookshop ... Oh, cruel world. But I wish Ari all success.
