11 Sept 2015: The weekend approaches and the scaffolding is being unloaded at Mertasari beach park for a " DJ" from hell no doubt. I will retreat to the mountains( tamanbebek sayan) to commune with the chainsaws and makita tile-cutters. Indonesians are blissfully oblivious to noise pollution — they r hard-wired for total tolerance. Does that make us silence-lovers less evolved?

8 Jan: I am reeling from overnight criticism from a couple of important international balinese queens (one in vienna, one in mexico city) that i feature too many twinks (skinny gays) and not enough hunks. This is a depressing trend — the stampede for beefcake (often just muscle mary) vs the infinitely more aesthetic svelte zylphs( see photo below) — mainly adopted by woolonggong photographers and such.
