8 May, Fashion up-date: Flowing floral frocks are all the rage with aunties in the sino-indonesian communities today. Yesterday, on a flight from Surabaya , our flight was delayed as we waited for the arrival of a sour-faced but gentle-mannered Koko and his trophy wife, in a high-waisted school uniform — a picture of early Deanna Durban sophistication. This morning, on the Mertasari groyne, I come across a gaggle of graceful mainland matrons, honking like Buicks.
